Konark Sun Temple


Konark Sun Temple is a 13th-century Sun Temple at Konark, in Orissa.It is also known as as the Black Pagoda .The temple is famous for its erotic sculptures, which can be found primarily on the second level of the porch structure.The Temple City of Konark is situated in the eastern state of Orissa at a distance of around 65 km from Bhubaneswar and 35 km from Puri.
This huge temple chariot is drawn by 24 wheels and seven horses. Each wheel is about 10 feet in diameter, the majestic intricate carving on these massive wheels of the chariot is just beyond imagination and are the major attractions of the temple. The spokes of these wheels serve as sundials, and the shadows formed by these can give the precise time of the day. Some says that the wheels represent the 24 hours of the day and others says the 12 months in its concept, where as the seven horses dragging the temple makes up the seven days of the week.
The upper part of this temple was built by a 12 years old boy named "Dharmapada".Its a tourism place in orissa.So it is proud of orissa.

Tara -Tarini Temple


There are so many shakti pithas in orissa. Tara-tarini is one of most important shakti pitha.Tara tarini is at kumari hills on the bank of River Rushikulya near Purushottampur in Ganjam District.Goddesses Tara-Tarini have been regarded as the presiding deity(Ista-Devi)in almost every house in South Orissa.The picturesque scenery of the temple, from the hill and the river Rushikulya attracts visitor.

Rathyatra from puri


Ratha Yatra is one of the major Hindu festivals .It is celebrated in all world but it is famous in Puri,Orissa and you can see the car festival in all over orissa such as in a small village also.

It is a large annual festival originating in the city of Puri. Most of the city's society is based around the worship of Lord Jagannath .

The deities - Jagannath (Krishna), Baladeva and Subhadra are worshipped within the temple, but on the day of Ratha Yatra they are taken through the streets in huge chariots so that everyone can have the fortune of seeing them.This commemorates the annual journey of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and their sister Subhadra to their aunt' s temple from their temple. This is the only day when devotees who are not allowed in the temple premises such as non-Hindus and foreigners, can get their glimpse of the deities openly. The Rath carts themselves are some 50-60 feet high and are pulled by the thousands of pilgrims who turn up for the event.Millions of people congregate at Puri for this annual event from all over the country and abroad.
